THE Philippine Red Cross (PRC) proved to be a preferred partner for the Rotary Club and its network of 1.4 million from around the world as a ceremonial signing of a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for a wheelchair project happened on May 25, 2023 at the PRC National Headquarters in Mandaluyong City.

“Imagine Rotary: Mobility for Dignity” is a wheelchair donation program of the Rotary that aims to provide wheelchairs for the well-being of every person with mobility impairments who could not afford one.

The program was created to honor the legacy of the Rotary Club of Manila 101’s charter president, Teresita Tumangan, who passed away on March 9, 2023.

The beneficiaries of 270 wheelchairs amounting to $42,000 from Rotary’s donor partners, The Wheelchair Foundation and Rotary International District 5170, will be identified and assessed by the PRC and Rotary Club members.

“The signing of the MoA between our organizations today reaffirms our strong partnership. Just as the Rotary is dedicated to creating enduring positive change in the world, PRC is equally committed to making a difference and striving towards a better world for all,” Philippine Red Cross Chairman and CEO Richard Gordon said.

PRC Secretary General Dr. Gwen Pang also expressed her gratitude to the Rotary.

“As a proud member of the Rotary Club of Manila 101 and the current Secretary General of PRC, I am delighted to witness the growing partnership between our organizations. I am deeply grateful to the Rotary for their steadfast support to the Philippine Red Cross, both past and present,” she said.

Since 2006, the Rotary has partnered with the PRC and its chapters by providing monetary assistance for typhoon survivors, donating vehicles and emergency equipment used during crises, and conducting blood donation campaigns, to name a few.
